Carl “Papa” Palmer of Old Mill Road in Ridgeway, Virginia, lives in University Place, Washington. He is retired from the military and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enjoying life now as “Papa” to his grand descendants and being a Franciscan Hospice volunteer.  Carl is a Pushcart Prize and Micro Award nominee.

  1. The Colonel in a doctor’s office is rarely on time. So we sit. Thing to do is bring some good reading material (something better than waiting room magazines on Deer Hunting, Climbing a Mountain, or Who’s Who in the movies) — then they’ll call you before you can turn one page.

Sir, would like to finish waiting so that I can thank you for the opportunity to wait on you. Sir, if l can just raise my hands then I can come out of hiding. Sir. Responding to waiting to read your poem after I stand in line. Sir. The Line is getting longer and I will leave a message after the message has been received long after I go to bed. Sir. Respectfully, and so on…yours very truthfully.
