Marilyn Zelke Windau is a Wisconsin poet, born and raised in Chicago and Highland Park, Illinois. She has never lived far from Lake Michigan and considers it her first ocean. She adds her maiden name when she writes to honor her father, who was also a writer. He recited the poetry of Longfellow to her as a child.

Zelke Windau taught art at the middle school and elementary school levels for many years. She has been a waitress, an art gallery manager, an art/poetry workshop facilitator, and is currently an art center docent as well as a Master Gardener Volunteer. She enjoys creating handmade books.

Marilyn has written poetry since she was thirteen, usually sitting in a dry bathtub with a pillow and a pencil. No one bothers her there. Her free verse poems have appeared in many printed and online venues and anthologies. Her chapbook Adventures in Paradise (Finishing Line Press) and full length, self-illustrated manuscript, Momentary Ordinary (Pebblebrook Press) were both published in 2014. Owning Shadows was published by Kelsay Books in 2017, and Hiccups Haunt Wilson Avenue is forthcoming in 2018.

She lives in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin with her husband and Peme, their golden retriever.
