He is retired military, retired FAA, now just plain retired enjoying life as Papa to his grand descendants. Carl, Hospice volunteer, is a former Pushcart Prize and Micro Award nominee.

I love how one well-placed adverb, “shyly,” makes this poem.

Thank you, Liz, my verb, “whisps” was talked about most in our poetry group.
I preferred it over “whisks.”

Definitely! “Whisps” began the turn to softness. “Whisks” wouldn’t have worked at all.
