Dreams in Winter by Mary C. Rowin

Mary C. Rowin was born in early January long, long ago in a faraway land called South Dakota. Later Mary’s parents moved to North Dakota where Mary grew up. (A few miles further north and she could have been Canadian. Oh well.) From those cold beginnings Mary knows that winter requires embellishment: color, scents and at least a memory of the delicious things missing during The Great Absence.
Mary animates winter with poetry and art in Wisconsin where she now lives. As a textile artist, Mary tells stories with thread and fabric and as a docent at the Chazen Museum of Art she narrates works of art. Occasionally, a sculpture or painting finds a home in an ekphrastic poem. You don’t grow up in ND without wanting to be somewhere else; so far, Mary has traveled with her husband to more than sixty countries, including most of Canada. Of course.
Mary’s poems have been published by the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poetry, Stoneboat, Solitary Plover, Mariposa, Zo Magazine, Blue Heron and by the Science Fiction Poetry Association.
