Laura Casteel is a writer, filmmaker, and associate producer for UNC-TV, North Carolina’s public television station. She also volunteers as a poetry editor for Treehouse Magazine, and her work has appeared in Thrice Fiction and Film Matters Magazine. Her first venture in making beauty out of ugliness occurred at the age of seven, when she caught slugs in her backyard and brushed their backs with makeup. Now, she writes poetry instead, and lives in Durham, North Carolina with her guinea pigs, Fiona and Cake. Follow her blog at considerablesetbacksblog.blogspot.com.
