South Chicago by Jeff Burt

Jeff Burt lives in Santa Cruz County, California, with his wife, Cori, and a July abundance of plums. He finds something unusually gratifying with spitting a seed or a pit and has published poems on a peach pit, a plum pit, blackberry seeds, and now an apple seed. He grew up in Wisconsin, was tempered in Texas and Nebraska, and found a home in California, though the landscapes of the Midwest still populate much of his work like throngs of blackbirds and grackles. He has work in The Cortland Review, Spry, Rhino, Word Soup, and Storm Cellar.
The author.

The author.

This photo caught a lonely musician in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.  He was practicing, he said, but possibly because he had no audience.  In that, he seemed more like a writer.
