As an undergraduate, Frances J. Pearce took the long and scenic route, attending five different schools (including arch rivals UNC and NC State) and accumulating 153 semester hours before yielding to graduation at Elon College. Later, she savored graduate school but limited herself to a single institution, the College of Charleston, from which she received an MS in Accountancy. For many years she has fantasized about earning an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing. In 2008 she interviewed on location with the director of a graduate program in Wales, but never actually applied there. Or anywhere.
In May 2014, Finishing Line Press published her poetry chapbook Those Carolina Parakeets Once Far from Extinct. Frances is currently seeking representation for her completed novel and beginning to write a second one.
