Jerry retired from the corporate world in August 2009 and began taking steps to pursue a long-time dream of owning a photography business.  He began by tagging along with his wife Paula to East Lansing, MI where she was pursuing a PhD. Jerry took full advantage of the opportunity by enrolling in photographic imaging classes at Lansing Community College in Lansing, MI. The college offers state-of-the art programs in digital photography and advanced digital imaging techniques.

To pursue further interests on bird photography, Jerry also became a member of the Michigan Audubon Society and studied with expert photographers in the field. Jerry’s specialty is shooting high-speed digital images of birds in flight capturing scenes not seen by the naked eye.  His recent work has focused on Black-capped Chickadees to produce amazing images of grace and elegance of these regionally popular visitors.

Jerry retired from work as a Small Business Consultant with Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council. Prior to that he had worked in hospital management at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI serving as the Director of Management Information Systems. He has previously worked as a mathematics school teacher and also served in the US Army as a Combat Infantry Soldier in Vietnam earning a Purple Heart and other meritorious medals.

Designs by Nature Studio is located in an active bird watching setting. Head east on Hwy J from either Hwy 51 or Hwy 47 in Woodruff.
