Party Animals

In another life,
we could dress
like pop stars
with no sense of fashion.
We could crash parties
until noon the next day.
Or we could make babies,
grow poinsettias
in a garden not ours.
& everything would float

But you’re too busy
talking to downtown men
drawing a map of Tokyo
with their fingers,
never alluding to
their short-changed lovers,
their starving pet tigers.
Around here, everyone only glitters
at night.
